PSORIASIS

OVERVIEW

Psoriasis is a complex, chronic, multifactorial,
inflammatory disease that involves hyperproliferation of the keratinocytes in the epidermis.
The disease most commonly manifests on the skin of the elbows, knees, scalp,lumbosacral areas, intergluteal clefts, and glans penis. In up to 30% of patients,the joints are also affected.

TREATMENT

Medications used in the management of psoriasis include the following:

Topical corticosteroids
Intramuscular corticosteroids
Intralesional corticosteroids
Coal tar 0.5-33%
Keratolytic agents
Vitamin D analogs
Topical retinoids
Immunomodulators
TNF inhibitors
Antimetabolites
Phosphodiesterase-4 inhibitors
Interleukin inhibitors
